9 Times Table Finger Trick

The multiplication trick that works for questions up to 10 x 9.

Set The Multiplier

Hold up your hands so you can see your palms.

Hold down the “multiplier” finger

For 3 x 9 hold down the 3rd finger.

Count Tens To the Left

Now read your answer!

Count fingers to the left of the finger you put down. Those are your tens

For 3 x 9, there are 2 tens.

Count Units To the Right

Now count all the fingers to the right. These are your units.

Put the Tens and Units together for your answer

For 3 x 9, that’s 2 and 7 = 27
